NewsHEACS report and recommendations on the need for a heritage audit in Scotland HEACS has now submitted its report on the need for a heritage audit in Scotland to Patricia Ferguson, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport. This was one of the five topics on which her predecessor, Frank McAveety requested advice from HEACS in its first term. The Report makes a strong and robust case for the development of an on-going audit process, led by a Steering Group under the aegis of Historic Scotland, in order to provide the necessary foundation for sound evidence-based policies and strategies for the historic environment. The report was prepared by a Working Group appointed by Council and chaired by Neil Galbraith, one of the Vice-chairs of HEACS. The Group heard evidence from a number of expert bodies and individuals, and also consulted widely in preparing the paper.
