Press ReleasePast Forward - Celebrating and Promoting Our Historic EnvironmentA national conference to celebrate and promote Scotland's rich historic environment will take place on Wednesday 20 May 2009 in Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. The conference is organised by the Historic Environment Advisory Council for Scotland (HEACS). The opening address will be given by Michael Russell MSP, Minister for Culture, External Affairs and the Constitution, and other speakers will include Liz Burns, Chair of HEACS, and Kate Mavor, Chief Executive of the National Trust for Scotland. Some of the key bodies and voluntary groups in the historic environment will showcase their work and outline their vision for the future, and there will be exhibitions about some of the exciting projects taking place. The day will conclude with an open forum focusing on the challenges and opportunities for our historic environment in the years ahead. The conference is being organised by the Historic Environment Advisory Council for Scotland (HEACS) and sponsored by Historic Scotland. This is a partnership event between HEACS, Historic Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland, the Scottish Civic Trust, Archaeology Scotland, the Built Environment Forum Scotland and the Historic Houses Association.
