Mr James Simpson

James Simpson OBE FRIAS, is an architect and has been a partner in the firm of Simpson & Brown, Architects, Archaeologists & Building Historians, since 1977.

He was a member of the Ancient Monuments Board for Scotland (1984-1996) and of The Royal Commission on the Ancient & Historical Monuments of Scotland (1996-2006). He is a Vice-President of the UK Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS-UK), a trustee of the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust and an adviser to the Scottish Redundant Churches Trust. He has chaired the Scottish Society for Conservation & Restoration (SSCR), the RIAS Conservation Committee and the Building Limes Forum and is a former board member of the Edinburgh World Heritage Trust and of the Scottish Lime Centre Trust. He has been a council member of the Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland and of the Cockburn Association, and member of the Scottish Conservation Bureau Advisory Panel (SCBAP).
