Mr Colin McLean

Mr Colin McLean is Head of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Scotland.

His qualifications are in the history of architecture, in business studies and in town planning, and he has worked in the heritage sector for 27 years. His planning career started in East Lothian in 1978, latterly looking at conservation policy, and in 1984 he moved to the Scottish Mining Museum Trust, where he became the Museum's Director in 1988.

In 1996 he joined the Scottish Museums Council as Assistant Director (Communications), providing a range of support to Scotland's museums. In 1999, he led the Heritage Lottery Fund's establishment of its Scottish office as its Manager for Scotland.

Colin is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and a non-executive Director of the Eastgate Theatre & Arts Centre in Peebles.
