Ms Eila MacqueenMs Eila Macqueen is Director of Archaeology Scotland, a voluntary organisation with wide ranging membership of individuals and groups with an interest in Scotland’s archaeological heritage. Her career began at Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, moving to curating local archaeological and historical collections in Caithness and Sutherland and developing community museums Argyll and Bute. She completed her research into how museums and communities relate to each other and to the historic and natural environment with an MPhil thesis at Newcastle University. She moved to work with the Northern Ireland Museums Council in 1999, developing policy relating to equality legislation in Northern Ireland and working with government departments to support local museums. Returning to Scotland in 2004 to take up the post with Archaeology Scotland and bringing together interests in the historic environment and community participation, she gained a distinction in the Advanced Diploma in Management Practice from Ulster University and is currently a mentor for the Museums Association Associateship programme and a Trustee of Scottish Environment LINK.
